DC Section

The DC ACO is the largest ACO since it coincides with the NOAA headquarters in Silver Spring. Officers visiting the area are encouraged to get in touch while you are in town!

DC ACO Board

We meet biweekly to plan ACO activities, allocate resources, and connect with both current and retired members. Our goal is to develop a community resource network that our local members can rely on.

Currently serving as the Operations Manager for OAR's Global Ocean Monitoring and Observing Program in Silver Spring, MD. Jeff spends his freetime traveling and enjoying the outdoors.

Originally joined the NOAA Corps to see the world beyond DC, but is excited to return back to the East Coast after 8 years. When out of uniform, Shelley can be found (or thinking about) trail running, and any given form of bicycling, and starting that life list for birding.

LCDR Cherisa Friedlander

Recently served as flag aide to the Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere/NOAA Administrator, Dr. Richard Spinrad. Cherisa loves the water and can usually be found at the beach swimming, snorkeling, exploring lighthouses, and hunting for sea glass.
