The DC ACO is the largest ACO since it coincides with the NOAA headquarters in Silver Spring. Officers visiting the area are encouraged to get in touch while you are in town!

We meet biweekly to plan ACO activities, allocate resources, and connect with both current and retired members. Our goal is to develop a community resource network that our local members can rely on.

CAPT Héctor Casanova
Héctor currently serves as the Operations Director and Line Office Liaison for NOS. With over 20 years of service in the NOAA Corps, he is now on his third assignment in the D.C. area. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to serve on more than half of the fleet, working under all Operation Centers and across nearly every ocean and sea. Outside of work, Héctor enjoys spending time with his family and exploring new hikes.

CDR Emily Rose
Emily Rose currently serves as the Chief, Officer Career Management Division in The Commissioned Personnel Center. Prior to reporting to Silver Spring, CDR Rose was Commanding Officer of NOAAS Oscar Dyson, in Kodiak, AK. In her free time CDR Rose enjoyed the outdoors, playing sports, or adventuring with her dog, Vespa, and husband, Erik. She also is a proud member of the 2026 Washington Prodigy, the DC area women’s tackle football team!

LT Danielle Remigio
Currently serving as the Operations Support Officer for NOAA SARSAT in Suitland, MD. When not on duty, Danielle enjoys spending time with her pets and visiting family. She can typically be found in the kitchen baking but she also enjoys figuring out how to fix problems with her RV when they arise and being outside exploring.

LCDR Patrick DeBroisse
Currently serving as the Chief of the Products Branch- Gulf, Marine Chart Division in Silver Spring, MD. When not working Patrick enjoys spending time with family, hiking, working around the house, and going to local dirt track races. He's also interested in Coast Survey and WWII history, uniforms, and equipment.

LCDR Dale Gump
Lieutenant Commander Dale J. Gump is currently serving as the Technology Portfolio Manager in NOAA Ocean Exploration. You will regularly find him outdoors with his spouse, Élodie, hiking, gardening, traveling, fishing, camping, or cheering on their beloved Buffalo Bills.

LTJG Elle Parks
LTJG Elle Parks is currently serving as a Lidar Sensor Operator for NGS in Silver Spring, MD. After her time exploring the Pacific as a JO on the NOAA Ship Rainier, Elle has continued her passions for travel, diving, hiking, and exploring as many new places as possible. When not on duty, you can find her cooking new recipes, reading Dan Brown, weightlifting, or somewhere out on the water.
